Langen-Denzlingen railway station

At the 31st of July in 1845 the first train of the "Großherzogliche Eisenbahn" stopped in Denzlingen. The train station was located 200 meters south of today’s building. In 1864, when the line Offenburg-Basel became double tracked the new train station was built. As a place of transshipment the train station played its role in the industrialization. With the opening of the Elztalbahn to Waldkirch in 1875 and to Elzach in 1909 Denzlingen became a regional junction.

You are located in front of the station building, which was built in 1864. A sandstone plate on the balcony of the building documents the year when the station was built and its original name “Station Langen-Denzlingen”. Every day many commuters use the station on their way to work. The railway connects Denzlingen with the metropolis of Freiburg, but also with the district town of Emmendingen. Even more distant cities like Lahr and Offenburg in the north and Basel in Switzerland in the south are linked.

The Elztal is connected by its own railway line. This branch line is used by commuters from Elzach and Waldkirch. The Elztal railway provides access to the Black Forest for tourists and hiking enthusiasts. Next to the station there is a large bus station, which offers further connections to the surrounding area.
